☘️Notre Dame Sports
🥍Lacrosse
Men's No. 1 travels to Durham - today, noon ET on ESPNU. Notre Dame (8-1, 1-1 ACC) faces No. 15 Duke at Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium. Every ACC game is a résumé builder with five conference members in the top 15, and the Blue Devils - already 8-0 through most of March - always make it physical. This is the next test after the Irish dusted No. 1 North Carolina 10-5 last week to claim the top spot.
Women's ACC Tournament draw is set. No. 6 Notre Dame (12-4, 6-4 ACC) draws No. 3 Clemson (13-4, 7-3 ACC) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 22 at 8:00 PM ET in Charlotte at American Legion Memorial Stadium. All games on ACC Network. Grace Maroney's six-goal breakout in Thursday's 18-3 rout of Louisville - plus the return of Tewaaraton nominee Kate Timarky - has the Irish rolling into the postseason.
Upcoming:
- Men's: at #15 Duke - today, 12:00 PM ET (ESPNU)
- Women's: vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Tournament QF) - Wed, April 22, 8:00 PM ET (ACCN)
- Men's: vs. Syracuse - Sat, April 25, 12:00 PM ET (home, ACCNX)
Last Results:
- Women's: W 18-3 vs. Louisville (April 16) - regular-season finale
- Men's: W 10-5 vs. #1 North Carolina (April 11)
🏀Women's Basketball
Two days until the portal window closes - still no Audi Crooks decision. The Iowa State transfer continues to follow ND WBB's Instagram, Niele Ivey, Hannah Hidalgo, and KK Bransford - and nothing else has moved publicly. Multiple programs (UConn, South Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame) remain in the mix for the 6-3 center who averaged 25.8 points per game last season. The April 20 deadline is when players must be in the portal, not when they have to commit, so this could drag past the weekend. If NIL offers don't match her reported "well north of half a million" ask, Crooks - who's draft-eligible - could skip college entirely and enter the WNBA Draft.
Meanwhile, the roster around her (hypothetical or otherwise) keeps shaping up: Hidalgo is officially back for her senior year after her historic tournament run, and Cassandre Prosper went 19th overall to the Washington Mystics.
Last Result: Elite Eight - UConn 70, Notre Dame 52 (March 29)
🏈Football
Blue-Gold Game one week out - Saturday, April 25, 2:00 PM ET on Peacock. Tickets start at $10. Spring practice opened March 20 and wraps April 25; the team is deep into the final stretch now, with Marcus Freeman's group working through a handful of running back injuries (Aneyas Williams on no-contact with an elbow issue, freshman Kedren Young out with a torn ACL, Javian Osborne recovering from wrist surgery). Notre Dame still leads the country in returning production (67% offense, 77% defense), ESPN's latest way-too-early poll has the Irish at No. 4, and CJ Carr is the Heisman frontrunner.
Upcoming: Blue-Gold Game - Sat, April 25, 2:00 PM ET (Peacock) Season Opener: Sept. 6 at Wisconsin (Shamrock Series, Lambeau Field, NBC)
📋Around the Program
- Baseball: Florida State run-ruled the Irish 11-0 in seven innings last night at Dick Howser Stadium. Wes Mendes tossed six scoreless, FSU piled up 13 hits, and a seven-run sixth put it away. Notre Dame tries to salvage game two today at 2 PM ET and the finale Sunday at 1 PM.
🔴Utah Utes
🤸Gymnastics
Four on the Floor tonight - 4:00 PM ET on ABC from Dickies Arena. Oklahoma (198.300 in the semis, the night's top score), Florida (197.7875), Minnesota (197.4625 - the first program ever seeded outside the top 10 to reach the final), and LSU (197.4375) meet for the title. No Utes in the team final - Minnesota ended Utah's 49-year nationals streak at the Corvallis Regional.
The Red Rocks' three individual qualifiers closed out the season in Fort Worth: Ella Zirbes posted her best floor of the year at 9.925, Ana Padurariu capped her career with a 9.85 on beam, and Avery Neff went 9.8 on bars and 9.9 on beam in the all-around. No hardware, but a strong final showing.
🏈Football
22 For U Fan Day is today. Saturday, 4:30-6:00 PM at Spence Eccles Field House. Free admission, full-team autographs, kids' zone with drills coached by the staff, live interview with head coach Morgan Scalley. Utah opted out of a traditional spring game this year - Scalley is using that slot as the team's 15th practice instead.
Spring camp is deep into Week 3 under the pads. The roster added 38 new players this cycle, with five or so more expected before fall camp. Transfer portal adds continue - RB Chavez-Soto from San Jose State (448 rushing yards, 7 TDs as a freshman) and kicker Tanner Cragun from UTEP.
Upcoming: 22 For U Fan Day - today, 4:30-6:00 PM Season Opener: Sept. 3 vs. Idaho (home)
📋Around the Program
- Lacrosse (20th-ranked): Host Queens today at noon MT at Ute Field, free admission, ESPN+. Regular-season finale vs. Air Force (April 25) - a rematch of last year's ASUN Championship. PLL-drafted Ryan Stines and Nikko DiPonio continue to anchor the offense.
🌰Ohio State Buckeyes
🏈Football
Spring Game is today - noon ET, Ohio Stadium, Big Ten Network. Tickets still available starting at $13, free parking, free Fan Fest kicks off at 10 AM. The format is a more traditional scrimmage this year: Scarlet vs. Gray, "thud" tempo with the first-team vets early, live tackling later (QBs never live).
Top things to watch:
- Wide receiver 3: Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss are locked in; four WRs are fighting for the third starting slot. Five-star freshman Chris Henry Jr. (No. 2 WR in the 2026 class) is the most intriguing storyline.
- Offensive line: Ian Moore looks more likely than not to win the left tackle job. Sam Greer has pushed into the ones, and Gabe VanSickle is working at right guard.
- Defensive line: Beau Atkinson, Qua Russaw, and Zion Grady all competing for the DE spot next to Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
- Secondary: FSU transfer Earl Little Jr. (76 tackles, 4 INTs in 2025) is a versatile piece for Matt Patricia - safety or nickel.
- Tight end: Arthur Smith's new scheme leans on 12/13 personnel; Williams and Welcing have been making noise all spring.
Injuries out: Bo Jackson (torn labrum, until July), Austin Siereveld, Phillip Daniels, Legend Bey (hamstring), Anthony "Turbo" Rogers.
NFL Draft (April 23-25, Pittsburgh) - five days away. All five Buckeye invitees are projected first-rounders: Arvell Reese (unanimously top-7, most mocks have him top 5), Sonny Styles (46 of 48 mocks have him top 10 - OSU would become the first school ever with two LBs in the top 10), Carnell Tate (unanimous top-15, 85%+ of mocks in the top 10), Caleb Downs (top-10 in most mocks, with the Bengals a popular landing spot), and Kayden McDonald (back half of Round 1). Five first-rounders would tie the school record from 2006 and 2016.
Upcoming: Spring Game - today, 12:00 PM ET, Ohio Stadium (BTN) Season Opener: Sept. 5 vs. Ball State (home)
